CHAMBESY

On the village square in Pregny-Chambésy, the Municipality had two adjoining spaces that it wanted to bring to life with a new purpose. The ambition was to create a welcoming, hybrid venue where local residents, families and visitors could meet and spend time throughout the day.

CONTEXT AND MISSION

The Municipality of Pregny-Chambésy approached us to help define the future identity of these spaces and develop a concept that would meet the needs of the local community.

One of the key challenges was to create an offering that would complement the businesses already established in the municipality rather than compete directly with them. Following a market study, we explored several combinations of activities and business models. The selected concept brought together a neighbourhood café offering light food and a concept store.

This hybrid model also made the search for the right operator particularly important: the successful candidate needed to understand and manage these different activities while ensuring the long-term financial viability of the venue.

OUR SOLUTION

During over a year, we supported the Municipality from the initial concept through to operator selection and the design of the spaces, combining market analysis, hospitality expertise and an understanding of how the venue would be used day to day.

Project scoping

Working sessions with the Municipality, a local market study and analysis of the existing offering to explore different combinations of activities and business models. We also developed financial projections to assess their viability and define a concept that would be sustainable, complementary to existing local businesses and relevant to residents’ needs.

Tender development and launch

Defining the specifications and selection criteria, launching the call for tenders, assessing applications and supporting the Municipality throughout the interview process through to the final selection of an operator capable of delivering the hybrid concept.

Space planning and operational flows

Supporting the design of the spaces and working on operational flows, the kitchen, bar, retail area and interior concept alongside the various project partners, with the aim of creating an environment that works equally well for guests and the team running it.

What we loved about it ?

Exploring how two adjoining spaces could work together to create a vibrant hybrid venue, and supporting the project from the very first idea through the opening of Le Petit Comptoir.
